With Hidden Figures released on 17 February in the UK, we suggest you go and see it, not only for the amazing and inspiring story behind three women, who where the geniuses behind a NASA operation, but also for its wardrobe.
Starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, the film sees these three African American women pushed the race and gender boundaries at the time to send an astronaut into space that inspired the rest of the world to do the same.
Hidden Figures has already won a SAG Award and is nominated for three Oscars and one BAFTA.
The film is set in 1961, and while fashion trends have moved on since then however, there are certain looks that have caught our eye.
Thanks to spring/summer 2017 catwalks such as Gucci, House of Holland and Versace they have influenced the high street in turning back the clock.
Gucci showcased midi skirts, cardigans, nipped in waists and crazy prints, while House of Holland, Versace and may more have all gone wild for gingham and checks. All these trends appear in the film.
Hidden Figures shows off early 60s fashions, still with a heavy imprint of the 1950s which was very big on prints and showing off the female silhouette.
